Presentation:

We kick off our exciting new 2010-2011 season by welcoming keynote speaker, Dr. Claire Boccia-Liang, MD.

Heart disease affects women of all ages. It is the leading cause of death for women 65 and older; the second leading cause of death for women 45 to 64; and the third leading cause of death for women 25 to 44. Yet, most women do not know the heart disease symptoms unique to them. The good news is, many of the factors that contribute to heart disease can be controlled or even eliminated. The Women's Heart Program at Overlook Hospital, part of Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, helps women understand their risk of heart disease and learn how to take steps to improve their health and save their lives. The evening's presentation will include:

• Recognizing cardiovascular risk reduction
• Prevention
• Key tests for heart disease and the importance of knowing your numbers
• Current heart disease and stroke statistics
• Heart disease and diabetes
• Women and heart disease
• What to do if you're having a heart attack!

Dr. Claire Boccia-Liang, M.D. is a cardiologist who has a special interest in women's heart health and cardiovascular disease prevention. She is affiliated with Atlantic Health, and has admitting privileges at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and Trinitas Hospital. She graduated from Cornell University Medical College with honors. Her undergraduate and master's degrees were received from Cornell University and Harvard respectively. She completed her residency in Internal medicine at New York University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell campus) in New York City.

FROM NORTHERN NEW JERSEY:

• Take 287 South to Exit #37 (Route 24 East)
• Take Route 24 East to Exit #9A (Broad Street, Summit).
• As you exit, go straight to first traffic light and make a right onto Broad Street.
• Go straight onto Broad Street for approximately one mile through 6 traffic lights until intersection of Morris Avenue.
• Turn right at the 6th traffic light onto Morris Avenue (7 Eleven will be on your right).
• Go to 1st traffic light and make a left onto Springfield Avenue.
• Proceed through one traffic light; The Grand Summit Hotel will be on your left.

FROM ROUTE 24 WEST:

• Take Route 24 West to Exit #9A (Millburn/Summit/Springfield).
• As you exit, bear right and follow the signs to Summit.
• Go straight onto Broad Street for approximately one mile through 6 traffic lights until intersection of Morris Avenue.
• Turn right at the 6th traffic light onto Morris Avenue (7 Eleven will be on your right).
• Go to 1st traffic light and make a left onto Springfield Avenue.
• Proceed through one traffic light; The Grand Summit Hotel will be on your left.

GARDEN STATE PARKWAY:

• Parkway South to exit 142 to Interstate 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West).
• Then follow directions from Route 24 West.
• Parkway North to exit 142 to Interstate 78 East for one exit and follow signs to U-turn for 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West).
• Then follow directions from Route 24 West.

FROM NEWARK AIRPORT:

• Take Interstate 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West). Then follow directions from Route 24 West.

FROM SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY AND PHILADELPHIA:

• Take NJ Turnpike North to exit 14, then Interstate 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West). Then follow directions from Route 24 West.

FROM CLINTON AND ALL POINTS WEST:

• Route 287 South to Interstate 78 East to Exit #45 (Glenside Avenue).
• At light, make left onto Glenside Avenue.
• Continue to second traffic light and make left onto Morris Avenue.
• At 6th traffic light, turn left onto Springfield Avenue.
• Go through one light, hotel will be on your left.

FROM ROUTES 22 WEST AND 22 EAST:

• Route 22 West to Summit Road exit, Watchung Reservation.
• Make right onto Summit Road (there is a Getty gas station on the corner).
• Follow Summit Road, through one traffic light and cross over Interstate 78.
• At that point, the road becomes Baltusrol Road.
• Continue to second traffic light and make a left onto Morris Avenue.
• Proceed on Morris Avenue to the 6th traffic light and make a left onto Springfield Avenue.
• Go through one light, hotel will be on your left.
• Route 22 East to sign "Mountain Ave. to Sheffield St.
• U-Turn Route 22 West" (Sign will be on your left).
• Follow U-Turn sign to Route 22 West and follow directions above.

FROM NYC/GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE//LINCOLN TUNNEL/HOLLAND TUNNEL:

• Take NJ Turnpike (95) South to exit 14, then Interstate 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West).
• Then follow directions from Route 24 West.

FROM LONG ISLAND/BROOKLYN/JFK AIRPORT:

• Belt Parkway to Verrazano Bridge. Cross bridge to Staten Island Expressway to Goethals Bridge.
• Once over bridge, look for signs to NJ Turnpike North and follow to exit 14.
• Then take Interstate 78 West to exit 48 (Route 24 West).
• Then follow directions from Route 24 West.
